Richard L. Holm, Senior Advisor Richard Holm is a retired senior intelligence executive with expertise in political, economic and operational intelligence analysis and assessment. During his thirty-four year career as an operations officer and station chief in the CIA’s Directorate of Operations, Mr. Holm served seventeen years in operational assignments overseas. He is a China specialist, proficient in Mandarin Chinese, Thai and Spanish, and fluent in French. During his distinguished career, Mr. Holm was awarded the Distinguished Intelligence Medal and the Donovan Award, among other awards, headed two major CIA staffs, directed two key European Stations and organized aggressive operations to counter Soviet Bloc intelligence operations. He was also the deputy and chief of a major Asian station, directed worldwide clandestine intelligence collection programs and served as an intelligence liaison to Congress. In the 1980s he was director of the Counter Terrorism Group at CIA, where he restructured and expanded staff and programs to address increasing global terrorist threats, and he coordinated security planning for the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Mr. Holm is also the author of “The American Agent: My Life in the CIA”, published by Time Warner Books UK (2003).
