Lawrence E. Cosgriff, Senior Advisor

Lawrence Cosgriff is President and CEO of Maritime Lens LLC, a U.S.-based research and analysis firm focused on the national security dimensions of the maritime domain.

A graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY, Mr. Cosgriff has over 30 years of maritime industry experience, including service as a Merchant Marine Officer and as a deck officer on a wide variety of commercial ships, including LNG tankers, crude oil tankers and petroleum products tankers. He has held executive management positions in various ship-owning and operating companies, including American Automar, Inc., APL Ltd., and Koch Shipping, Inc., among others, and has extensive experience in chartering and port operations. Mr. Cosgriff holds a Master’s Degree from the Institute of World Politics in Statecraft and National Security Affairs.

Prior to founding Maritme Lens, Mr. Cosgriff was Senior Vice President, Government Services, of Inchcape Shipping Services – the largest shipping agency in the world. Prior to that, Mr. Cosgriff served as a maritime industry subject matter expert for a U.S.-based national security consulting firm and is considered an expert in international port operations and security, as well as emerging maritime security threats.
